Syria will not participate in Paris negotiations due to its "separatist"

(MENAFN) Syria’s interim government announced on Saturday that it will not participate in upcoming negotiations in Paris with the U.S.-supported Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). This decision came after the SDF held a conference in Hasakah on Friday, which the Syrian authorities labeled as "separatist" and damaging to ongoing efforts toward integration.

According to official statements, the Hasakah event, organized by the SDF and attended by Druze and Alawite religious leaders, was seen as "a blow" to the negotiation process and a "clear violation" of an agreement made on March 10. The source accused the SDF of inviting "separatist figures involved in hostile acts" and suggested that the meeting’s goal was to seek foreign intervention and reinstate sanctions.

Officials further described the conference as not representing a unified national stance but rather "a fragile alliance of parties harmed by the Syrian people's victory and the fall of the defunct regime."

The Hasakah gathering, titled "Unity of Position for the Components of Northeastern Syria," concluded with a call for a new democratic constitution and a decentralized governance system that honors Syria’s cultural and religious diversity.
