Syrian Security Forces Start Moving into Raqqa
Security personnel have begun advancing into Raqqa under a wide-ranging strategy to establish security, maintain stability, and protect civilians alongside public and private assets, a ministry statement confirmed.
The statement emphasized the action forms part of continuous efforts to stabilize security circumstances throughout Syrian cities and territories while guaranteeing residents a protected environment.
The force deployment materializes after President Ahmad al-Sharaa announced a ceasefire and comprehensive integration accord between the Syrian government and the SDF, concluding weeks of escalating military friction across northern and eastern Syria.
The agreement mandates the SDF withdraw its military units east of the Euphrates River while transferring administrative and security authority over Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor provinces to the Syrian state.
Terms stipulate integration of SDF military and security operatives into the Syrian ministries of defense and interior following individual security screening, alongside handover of border crossings, oil and gas infrastructure, and civilian agencies to government administration.
The pact arrives after a Syrian Army military campaign that reclaimed extensive territories in eastern and northeastern Syria, following repeated SDF violations of agreements signed with the government approximately one year prior and its failure to implement their provisions.
The SDF is dominated by the terrorist group YPG, the Syrian branch of the terrorist PKK.
