US Tries to Minimize Responsibility in Possible Iran Action

(MENAFN) The US is reportedly trying to minimize the political and military repercussions of any direct action against Iran, aiming to avoid being formally seen as the “initiator of war,” an Iranian defense source told reports. The official added that attempts to redirect responsibility are unlikely to change the eventual outcome.

According to information obtained through intelligence channels, Washington anticipates a severe, multi-layered Iranian response to any act of aggression. To limit its own exposure, the US plans to portray itself as a strong supporter of Israel, offering operational capabilities and a robust defensive shield over Israeli territory. The source explained that the dual aim is to deliver “hard and effective blows” to Iran while reducing vulnerability to potential Iranian counterstrikes.

“Iran views any military action by the cabinet of [Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu as coordinated with the political will of [US President] Donald Trump,” the source stressed. “On that basis, Iran will implement deterrent and response scenarios on a broad scale, commensurate with the nature of the threat, against countries and actors directly responsible for or supporting any aggression. The message is clear: shifting the allocation of responsibility will not alter the scope of Iran’s response.”

The warning comes amid a major US military buildup in the region, with two aircraft carrier strike groups and additional bombers deployed to the Middle East. Recent reports indicate that US plans for potential strikes on Iran are well advanced, including options targeting individual leaders and pursuing regime change if ongoing talks fail.
